7-th Patient Experience Symposium

7-th Patient Experience Symposium held this September in Boston is the world premier event for healthcare executives, administrators, physicians, and nurses, that are committed to improving the patient experience and transform healthcare to improve outcomes. Sistina Oftalmologija and PLX Academy were presented by Dr.Vesna Cado.

Conference gathered many healthcare leaders among who Zeev Neuwirth, MD a healthcare executive, author and podcast host; Laura Cooley, PhD,Editor-in-Chief for The Journal of Patient Experience; Helen Riess, M.D. associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Empathy and Relational Science Program at Massachusetts General Hospital and Chief Scientist and Chairman of Empathetics; James Merlino, Executive VP and Chief Innovation Officer at JCI, and many more.

Program provided insights into how patient experience impacts both quality and economic improvements, what role leadership plays in creating the right culture for patient-centered care, and how we can identify, evaluate and prioritize innovations that can quickly affect the lives of patients and practitioners.Dr Vesna Cado had a poster presentation  on this Symposium sharing experiences and strategies of patient-centered approach applied in Sistina Oftalmologija through the concept of Patient Luxury Experience (PLX) and PLX Academy as training and consulting centre for healthcare organisations.

Dr Cado said: Conference was an exquisite occasion for valuable connections with like minded colleagues from the leading health system in US. We had many meaningful discussions and round tables, sharing ideas and projects and practical strategies and tools how to improve outcomes based on human experiences: for both patients and care providers. We also learned much from the patients: Patient Lee Tomlinson, patient Ambasador of Stanford CCARE told us his story, what is most important for them. Empathy and Safety, they say.

I would also like to add, that I was thrilled by the credits and recognition that American colleagues gave to the efforts and resources that Sistina Oftalmologija invest in increasing awareness on the importance of human experiences in healthcare in Europe through the hospital and its training centre.

Event was organised and supported by HNC health, Journal of patient experience, Qualtrix, GCX Health Solutions, and many other sponsors supporters of patient-centred care.
