The Refractive Surgery Council reports that approximately 200,000 procedures were performed in the third quarter of 2021. That is 48 % more than in 2020. The third quarter of 2021 is the best performing quarter for laser vision correction procedures since the Council began tracking the data in 2015.
„Our data shows that people are moving beyond the superficial exploration of laser vision correction and learning there is a spectrum of alternatives – including Lasik, Smile and PRK – to support their desire for better vision without glasses and contacts,” Jim Wachtman, chairman of the Refractive Surgery Council said in the release.
Laser vision correction or Lasik is a safe, effective, and painless surgery. The entire process only takes 15 minutes for both eyes . It is a vision correction procedure, for laser remodeling of the cornea, to remove or reduce diopter / cylinder.
