Protect your eyes from polluted air

The American Academy of Ophthalmology, citing a study in the British Journal of Ophthalmology, recently published that residents of highly polluted areas, were more likely to be diagnosed with age-related macular degeneration than residents of less polluted areas.

Doctors suggest methods to protect the eyes from dangerous toxins in polluted air. The level of pollution is highest in the early morning and it is recommended to stay at home during that period. If you have to go outside, you should use goggles to reduce exposure to pollution. It is especially important not to touch the eyes, i.e. to frequently wash your hands so as not to cause additional infection. Hydration of the body will help the eyes to tear and thus remove harmful substances from the polluted air.
